Colon Hydrotherapy

A gentle and effective way to expel waste, relieve constipation, and increase your energy levels.

Colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation or colon cleansing, is an alternative therapy aimed at cleansing and detoxifying the colon. It involves the gentle infusion of warm, filtered water into the colon. The water helps to soften and eliminate waste matter, toxins, and any other build-up in the colon. This cleansing action improves the functioning of the colon, enhances nutrient absorption, and supports the natural detoxification processes of the body. Some individuals may find relief from certain digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, and irregular bowel movements through colon hydrotherapy.

Colon hydrotherapy is like a warm bath for your colon.

Why should you cleanse your colon?

When the colon is overloaded with stagnant, toxic material, the membranes that line it can become irritated and inflamed. This can impair the colon’s ability to move waste out of the body and process and absorb nutrients properly. Additionally, inflammation and swelling in the intestines can lead to increased absorption of toxic materials into the liver, blood, and lymph streams. This “gut leakage” can create a cascade of negative reactions that affect every system of the body.

We offer a gentle gravity flow colonic experience that uses purified water and disposable supplies to ensure your comfort and well-being. Colon cleansing can be a powerful first step in any healing journey. We work with each client individually, respecting their goals and comfort level, to address specific issues. Colon hydrotherapy can help to balance your entire being and enhance the healing process.

How much do you know about your colon?

We know, probably not something you’re thinking about all the time. But most people have a base understanding of how the colon functions. The colon is where the body stores its waste material and, unfortunately, it isn’t until we experience “bathroom issues” that we start to consider how our diet and lifestyle might affecting us.

The colon, also known as the large intestine, is a muscular tube that forms the last part of the digestive tract. It is about 5 feet long and is located in the abdomen. The colon’s main function is to absorb water and electrolytes from food waste and to form stool. The colon also plays an important role in the immune system. The colon is home to a large population of bacteria, both good and bad. The good bacteria help to protect the body from harmful bacteria and to produce important vitamins and minerals.

Keeping the colon healthy is important for overall health and well-being. Some tips for keeping the colon healthy include:

  • Eating a healthy diet that is high in fiber and low in processed foods
  • Drinking plenty of fluids
  • Exercising regularly
  • Colon hydrotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from a colon hydrotheraphy session?

Described as relaxing and comfortable, its not uncomfortable as you may fear. Comlpeted in a temperature-controlled, purified water flows into the colon to gently stimulate the colon’s natural peristaltic action to release softened waste.  For approximately 40 minutes, you will repeat a series of “fills,” where the water flows into the colon, and “releases,” where water and waste flow out.

Following lower bowel cleansing, the body may feel weary or relaxed. This is simply your body working out and processing through its cleaning period. Proper rest is important for your body to recuperate and rejuvenate.

What kind of equipment is used?

We use FDA approved colon hydrotherapy equipment and strictly follow all manufacturer guidelines for use and disinfecting. We also use FDA registered single-use, disposable speculum kits.

How often should I have colon hydrotheraphy?

Your first colon hydrotherapy session will help us determine how many sessions you need and how often you should schedule them. A general cleanse typically takes 5-8 sessions over 3-4 weeks, while a deeper cleanse may take 10-15 sessions over 4-8 weeks. Once you complete your initial series of sessions, you can schedule maintenance cleanses on a monthly basis to keep your colon healthy and reduce your toxic load.

It is important to note that even though one colon hydrotherapy session can be very effective, subsequent sessions can be even more effective at removing older, hardened, and impacted feces from the colon walls.

What should I wear to my appointment?

No special requirements here, just dress comfy!

What if I'm uncomfortable or don't like it after my appointment starts?

If you are uncomfortable continuing a service you simply need to tell your clinician and your session will be ended.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

You don’t need to follow a strict diet to prepare for colon hydrotherapy. However, we recommend that you treat your digestive system gently the day or two before your session. Here are some tips:

  • Drink lots of water (at least 64 ounces).
  • Eat whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber.
  • Avoid heavy foods, such as dairy products, red meat, cheese, cream sauces, and any foods that make you gassy.
  • Avoid carbonated and sugary beverages, as well as alcohol.

We also recommend that you stop eating and drinking two hours before your scheduled appointment. Once you have experienced colon hydrotherapy a few times, you will be able to monitor how your body reacts and what foods are best for you to eat before a session.

What should I expect after my appointment? Will I be in the bathroom all day?

How you feel after colon hydrotherapy will vary depending on the individual. Most people feel lighter and more energetic, but others may feel tired and/or hungry. Some people may also experience a lack of appetite, mild cramping, or nausea. Some people even come for a session on their lunch hour and head right back to work.

It’s important to listen to your body and see how you react. If you feel tired, rest. If you’re hungry, eat a light meal. And if you experience any discomfort, drink plenty of fluids and talk to your colon hydrotherapist.

Is there a special diet after my appointment?

Probiotics
Probiotics are live microorganisms that are good for your health. When you take probiotics, they help to restore the balance of bacteria in your gut. This can improve digestion, boost immunity, and reduce inflammation.

There are many different types of probiotics, so it’s important to choose a product that contains a variety of strains. Some of the most common probiotic strains include Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium lactis.

You can find probiotics in yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, miso, and kimchi. You can also take probiotic supplements in capsule, powder, or liquid form.

Diet
After a colon hydrotherapy session, it’s important to eat a healthy diet that is easy on your digestive system. For the first day or two, choose soft foods such as:

  • Hearty soups
  • Steamed vegetables
  • Brown rice
  • Cooked whole grain cereals, such as oatmeal and cream of wheat
  • Avoid raw vegetables for approximately 24 hours. The seeds and skins of certain vegetables and the tough fibers of lettuce can form air pockets that could lead to a bloated feeling.

Use in moderation:

  • Salt and heavy spices
  • Wheat products such as bread and pasta
  • Soft drinks
  • Fried foods
  • Dairy products

After your cleansing, drink plenty of liquids, such as distilled water, juice, herb teas, and electrolyte drinks.

Fruits are OK, preferably in the morning, but chew thoroughly.

Exercise
Exercise is important for overall health and well-being. It also helps to keep the digestive system moving. After a colon hydrotherapy session, it’s important to listen to your body and rest if you feel tired. However, if you feel up to it, light exercise, such as a walk or some gentle stretching, can be beneficial.
