What to Expect
EXION treatments are designed to be gentle, efficient, and easy to fit into your day. Most treatments take 20–40 minutes depending on the area being treated.
During your session, you’ll feel a gradual warming sensation as targeted energy stimulates deeper layers of tissue. The treatment is designed to activate regeneration without aggressive surface trauma.
After treatment:
- Mild redness or warmth may occur
- Most clients return to normal activity immediately
- Avoid direct sun exposure for about a week
- Pause strong acids or retinoids for 3 daysÂ
Results develop gradually as collagen and hyaluronic acid production increases. Many clients begin noticing improvements within weeks, with continued enhancement over the following months.
A series of treatments is typically recommended for optimal regenerative support.

Is EXION painful?

Is there downtime?
There is little to no downtime. You may experience mild redness or warmth immediately after treatment, which typically resolves within hours.
Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatment plans vary based on your goals and treatment area.
For skin rejuvenation, a series of 4 sessions spaced about one week apart is common. Your provider will recommend a personalized plan during consultation.
How long does a treatment take?
Most EXION sessions take 20–30 minutes depending on the area treated.
When will I see results?
Some patients notice subtle improvement shortly after treatment due to tissue tightening.
However, full results develop gradually over several weeks as collagen and hyaluronic acid production increases.
Skin continues improving for up to 3 months following a series.
Is EXION safe for all skin types?
Yes. EXION is designed to be safe for a wide range of skin tones and types. A consultation ensures the treatment is appropriate for your specific health history and goals.
Can EXION be combined with other treatments?
Yes. EXION pairs well with:

Is EXION the same as EMFACE?
No. While both are advanced technologies from BTL, they work differently.
- EMFACE targets facial muscles and skin simultaneously using HIFES + RF.
- EXION focuses on skin quality, collagen stimulation, and tissue rejuvenation using RF + ultrasound.
They can be combined for enhanced results.
Your results may vary. During the treatment you may feel comfortable heat, but you should never feel an unpleasant burning or pain sensation. Treatment should not be applied over hair or scar tissue, or if you have electronic or metal implants. Side effects may include temporary damage to natural skin (crust, blister, and burn). As with any medical procedure, ask your doctor if the EMFACE® and EXION® procedure is right for you.
The EXION® device has the following indications for use: EXION® Body applicator is intended to provide heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for selected medical conditions such as temporary relief of pain, muscle spasms, and increase in local circulation. The massage device is intended to provide a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. EXION® Face applicator is indicated to provide heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for selected medical conditions such as temporary relief of pain, muscle spasms, and increase in local circulation. The Emfemme 360 applicator is intended to provide heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for selected medical conditions such as temporary relief of pain, muscle spasms, and increase in local circulation. EXION® Fractional RF used with Non-insulated tips is indicated for use in dermatological and general surgical procedures for electrocoagulation and hemostasis. The EXION® Clear RF is intended for dermatological procedures requiring fractional treatment of the skin. At higher energy levels greater than 62 mJ/pin, use of the applicator is limited to Skin Types I-IV.
EMFACE® is indicated to provide heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for selected medical conditions such as temporary relief of pain, muscle spasms, and increase in local circulation. EMFACE® is further cleared for noninvasive temporary reduction of facial wrinkles. EMFACE® applies muscle stimulation resulting in induced muscle workout. EMFACE® submentum and Eye applicators are FDA cleared for aesthetic use including facial and neck stimulation or body skin stimulation. The EMFACE® submentum applicator is further cleared to affect the appearance of lax tissue in the submental area.
