Well of Life Center for Holistic Healthcare

by Senior Clinician Victoria Fisher

Do you suffer from the debilitating effects of chronic pain? You are not alone! Pain affects 100 million Americans, and is currently the most common reason people utilize health care. Unfortunately, modern medicine’s approach to pain management is one based on potent medications. These drugs never truly address the root cause of pain – they only mask the pain – while causing numerous, unpleasant side effects. Patients become dependent on these medications to function, yet they are never given the hope of living pain-free.

Yet there is hope! It is possible to live pain-free without drugs! The world of holistic medicine and natural health offer countless ways to improve function, restore vitality, and reduce/relieve pain. There is a growing body of research proving that tried and true traditional (now labeled “alternative” by modern medicine) therapies can and do alleviate chronic pain. Chiropractic care, massage, acupuncture, reflexology, music and color therapy, herbal and whole-food supplementation, and clean eating are all effective ways to ease pain.

For over 10 years, The Well of Life Center has used nutritional therapy to address the bio-individual needs of each client. By utilizing non-invasive nutritional testing, clinical nutrition programs comprised of whole-food, herbal, and homeopathic supplements are developed to address imbalances, stresses, and nutritional deficiencies. These programs, along with a whole-food, nutrient dense diet, can help reduce toxicity and inflammation, which are major contributors to pain.

In addition to nutritional therapy, the Well of Life Center offers chiropractic care to correct spinal misalignment, also known as subluxation. Subluxations can be a result of physical, chemical, and emotional stresses, and can cause symptoms such as aches and pains, dizziness, headaches, brain fog, poor posture, a weakened immune system, and disease. Prolonged misalignment can damage the spinal cord and the spinal nerves which exit the spine, causing chronic pain and affecting virtually every system of the body. Restoring proper spinal alignment allows the body to heal from past and present injuries, relieving chronic pain.

The world of holistic medicine has grown and evolved to better address the rise in chronic pain. Physicians are now marrying medical techniques with alternative therapies to bring about true relief and healing from chronic pain. The Well of Life Center for Natural Health has now joined forces with Dr. Vladimir Alhov, MD to offer people the hope of restored health and decreased pain. Dr. Alhov has a background in pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and has thankfully crossed over into the world of holistic medicine. He utilizes medical detoxification, manual therapy, and injections to specifically address each individual’s needs. Some of the therapies he uses for chronic pain include:

Prolotherapy is an injection therapy used to treat chronic pain and connective tissue injuries. An irritant (often dextrose) is injected into the target tissue/area, causing an inflammatory response. This inflammatory response stimulates natural healing, causing decreased pain and improved connective tissue integrity. Dr. Alhov will often use ozone in combination with the dextrose to facilitate greater healing and pain relief.

Ultrasound-guided joint injections can be used to treat an affected joint with a small dose of pain-relieving medication (Procaine) or homeopathic remedy (such as Traumeel). This technique can also be used to aspirate joint fluid into run diagnostic lab tests or remove excess fluid.

Neural therapy is an injection technique “based on the theory that trauma can produce long-standing disturbances in the electrochemical function of [certain] tissues,” such as scars and nerves. By injecting a local anesthetic (usually Procaine) into these tissues, the cell membranes become more stable, allowing for proper autonomic nervous system function, thus relieving pain.

Chronic pain does not have to be a life sentence. Holistic treatments, in conjunction with the right combination of clean eating, proper hydration, and supplementation, can dramatically improve your quality of life. Don’t suffer any longer. Contact The Well of Life Center today, and get on the road to living a pain-free life!
