What is coconut oil, and what do I do with it? We have heard this question over and over from our clients. Most people are, unfortunately, either uninformed or misinformed about the great benefits of coconut oil, and there are many!

Coconut oil comes from the meat of the coconut. Quality coconut oil, such as Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil, is pressed from fresh coconut meat, and therefore does not need to be refined, bleached, or deodorized, as other coconut oils are. The result is a pure, delicious coconut oil, a unique and natural saturated fat, which can actually help strengthen your body against disease, lower elevated cholesterol, and prevent the growth of viruses and bacterial infections.

There are many ways you can use coconut oil, both in and on the body. You can add a couple of tablespoons to your protein shakes, use it as an oil to sauté your food in (this is especially great with kale, chicken, or fish), mix it with some almond butter to dip your apples in, or use it in a recipe as a substitution for any type of oil. Coconut oil is also great as a moisturizer for the body, face, and hair; it can even help reduce wrinkles and lessen under-eye circles!
